Frequently asked questions
Q: Is it worth re-upholstering my furniture?
A: This is the most common question we are asked, and you can answer this by asking yourself a few questions.
1. Is your furniture Australian made?
Fact: Very little furniture sold today is Australian made. All manufacturing is in Asia, and the quality is extremely poor. Whether you buy from a big name retailer or a small one, the quality will be the same. You will never replace the quality of your Australian made furniture with a brand new imported lounge. Search under your cushions for a label that will tell you where it was made, usually on the care label.
2. Was the furniture expensive when you originally bought it?
Fact: Price is an indication of quality. If you've ever wondered why a company like Moran charged the prices they did, well the simple answer is that their product is that much better than everything else. The big difference in quality is to do with the timber used in the frame construction. Most people would be shocked at the type of timber being used in imported furniture.
3. Do you still like the design?
Why buy something new if the design of your lounge suits your situation.
4. How old is your furniture?
Fact: The older your furniture is, the better the quality. Most people throw their lounges out because they are old, when in actual fact the timber used in the frame construction is better than anything you will replace it with today. Even furniture made only a handful of years ago is better than new.
A lot of people assume that re-upholstery is too expensive, when the majority of the time it is cheaper than brand new. Re-upholstery allows you to control what you want, whether that is the colour of the fabric, feel of the cushioning, or even customising the look of your existing furniture.
When you buy brand new you are limited by what the company has on offer. There is very little room to move.
